About us

Ex-Montreuillois and after 10 months of research & visits in Burgundy, we moved in 2016 to the green Puisaye, a wild and rich territory of forests & castles located 1h30 from Paris.

We discovered this former ochre factory, a remnant of an 18th-century factory.

The building matched our expectations: an industrial & artistic heritage, space with a park and enough to realize a new life project...

We worked on it for 24 months and opened our Maison d'Hôtes/Maison d'Art in May 2018!

We love the intimacy of 'home', art in all its forms, rock, silence, inspiring little corners in the park, underground cinema, wines, spicy food, the sound of a bass, a good book and welcoming you as a friend...

Cathy was a decorative painter and make-up artist at the Opéra d'Avignon and the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, then worked on film & photo sets in London for 5 years. On her return to Paris, she co-directed auteur films, then returned to studio make-up to finally set up her Éveil au Maquillage workshops.

Gilles, painter and art director in advertising agencies, is the creator of Studio Ocre.

Together we created the Domaine de l'Ocrerie, a pretty guest house that's very much like us, as well as the cultural association Poussière d'Ocre to organize artistic events at the Ocrerie: concerts, exhibitions, readings, conferences...
